In the new installment of the popular DOOM: The Dark Ages series, the developers have completely revamped the combat system. First and foremost, this affected the main character’s weapons. In this guide, we will take a detailed look at the best weapons in the game and discuss their unique features.

Combat Shotgun

The classic shotgun, available at the very beginning of the story, is one of the best in the game. It deals massive damage at close range, and most importantly, even on high difficulty, finding ammo for it is not a big problem. In addition, if you fully upgrade the weapon, you can fire in bursts and deal fire damage, which destroys armor and ignites demons.

Shredder

This rapid-fire weapon, which shoots small projectiles, can be found at the end of the first chapter. Its advantage is the ability to deal pinpoint damage at close and medium range, especially when you need to hit a weak spot in a confined space. When upgraded, its projectiles can ricochet between enemies.

Cycler

In the fifth chapter, you can obtain an energy weapon that fires electric charges. Its unique ability is to shoot with increasing power, and if you fully upgrade the weapon, you can even stun demons.

Ravager

It fires long bursts of skull bones. If you fully upgrade the weapon, you can increase its fire rate and knock ammo out of enemies. You can find this gun in chapter 12.

Ballistic Force Crossbow

The most powerful weapon in the game, which you get in chapter 14. This is literally an energy handheld ballista. The long reload time is compensated by the fact that most enemies die from a single shot.

Flail

This is a medieval heavy melee weapon that can be found in chapter six. Thanks to its design, it allows you to deal quick and powerful attacks over a large area. If you upgrade the weapon, enemies will take fire damage and lose armor.

Shield

The shield is probably one of the best innovations in the series. It allows you to deflect projectiles flying at the hero and, most importantly, absorbs a large amount of damage. In addition, it can be thrown at enemies, and when upgraded, such an attack can stun. It should be added that the most important function of the shield is the ability to parry demon attacks in close combat.
