Expedition 33: The Endless Tower – Why the endgame content is worth it

One of the last major dungeons in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the Endless Tower. We reveal whether it's worth it—and what you have to do there.

After gaining the ability to fly around the world with Esquie in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you'll unlock a host of new areas. Some offer only a few items, but others contain truly long dungeons and tough challenges. One of the most challenging is the "Endless Tower."

Where can you find the tower? You can find the tower in the far west of the world map. On the map, it looks like a large, golden circle with a "C" inside. You'll need to fly upwards a little to find a landing position. After entering the tower, you'll find yourself in the entrance area. From here, run further back into the image to get from the entrance area to the actual tower.

Expedition 33: The Endless Tower – Why the endgame content is worth it

When should you enter the Tower? Generally, you can enter the Tower at level 45+, once you've completed Act 2 and Esquie has learned to fly . However, some battles require very high character stats, and a level of 80+ is definitely recommended.

However, you can also simply return to the tower every few levels and see if you're ready for the latest battle. It's not necessary to complete the tower in one go, and it's a good activity if you just want to get a few quick battles done.

As always in Expedition 33, you can basically win all fights regardless of your character stats if you're a true master of dodging and parrying. If that's not the case, a high level is definitely recommended.

What do you do in the Endless Tower? The Endless Tower offers very little in the way of exploration, but a lot for those who enjoy the combat system. In the central room of the tower, you'll find a screen you can interact with. Here, you can complete battles in sequence and unlock new ones. These are divided into 10 levels, each with 3 trials. On the 11th level, 3 particularly tough boss trials await. In total, there are 33 battles for you to master.

You unlock the battles in order. So, after completing "Level 1, Battle 1," you can complete "Level 1, Battle 2," and so on. Skipping battles isn't possible.

Endless Tower in Expedition 33 – All important rewards

What rewards are there in the Tower? The rewards are relatively generous considering the minimal travel involved. Each successful battle rewards you with a Lumina Point and Chroma Catalysts, which you can use to upgrade your weapons. Additionally, there's an additional reward at the end of a level, i.e., after every third battle. This can be a powerful Picto, but also new hairstyles.

Here we list all the special rewards you can get in the toughest battles:

If you complete all the battles, speak to the shadowy woman next to the portrait. She will grant you the new "Ponytail (Maelle)" hairstyle. This will allow you to wear Maelle's classic hairstyle with white hair dye—a real eye-catcher.

What else do you need to know about the Tower? The Endless Tower is completely optional. You don't need to put any pressure on yourself to complete it, and completing the Tower completely has no impact on the story. You don't even have to tackle the Tower before the final story mission in Lumiere. You can return after the story ends and complete any trials you haven't yet completed.

By the way, if you're defeated in a trial, it's not game over. You'll simply receive a message that you've failed the trial and can try again immediately without having to load a save game.
