The developers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 have released a large-scale DLC, in which players can paint their shields with the help of special craftsmen. But in addition, a series of interesting quests has appeared. In this guide, we will describe in detail how to start and complete the first quest of the “Brushes With Death” expansion — “A Sketchy Situation”. You will learn how to find Master Voit in Trosok and help him retrieve the artist’s set of brushes and dice.
How to Start the “A Sketchy Situation” Quest
First, you need to complete the story quest “For Whom the Bells Tolls”. On the Trosok map, an icon in the form of a purple shield with a red skull will appear. To get there, head to the castle of the same name and move southeast towards Apolena until you meet an elderly man tied to a tree. As you approach, the introductory cutscene of Henry and Master Voit will begin.
Help the Stranger in Trouble
Defeat two wolves and untie the man. The artist will tell you how he was drinking at the tavern with some cheats, who robbed him and tied him to a tree. Now he asks the hero to find his brushes and dice, but without resorting to violence.
Retrieve the Artist’s Brushes
Head south and on the road between Apolena and the wagon to Kuttenberg, near the ruins, find a camp in a small grove. Talk by the campfire to a guy in a green jacket named Irji.
Using your persuasion skills, talk to the archer, and he will admit that he beat the artist, frightened by the red skull. If you fail the negotiations, challenge the young man to see who can hit more targets with a bow, bet 100 groschen, and hit at least five figures. As a result, you will get the set of brushes.
Retrieve the Artist’s Dice
To get the dice, you need to talk to Kuba. The only way to get the item peacefully is to win, betting 50 groschen. Henry needs to score 3,000 points, while the opponent will have weak dice and will often try to make combinations of ones, so he will frequently fail — use this to your advantage.
If you fail, remember there is always the option to kill at night and take what you want, or stealthily pickpocket it.
Return the Artist’s Belongings
Head to Trosky Castle. Turn right from the blacksmith and go up to the fifth floor of the tower, then go through the scribe’s room to reach the workshop. Give the tools back to the master; this will complete the quest. However, if you successfully pass the persuasion check, you will receive the artist’s dice.
As a result, you will be able to paint shields with the help of masters who are marked on the map as “Shield Painter”. However, the DLC quests do not end here—if you want to continue the story, ask Voit if he needs any more help.
