Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon — Should You Choose Caradoc's Answers or the Artifact

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon impresses with its intricately crafted dark fantasy universe. Especially captivating are the well-developed characters who influence the game world. In this guide, we’ll tell you how to find Caradoc after completing the Great Escape quest, as well as describe the answers to all questions.

How to Find Caradoc

After the shipwreck, you will find yourself on the shore. Move along the road and before the bloody lake, turn left until you encounter the first fast travel stone near the fortress gates. After passing through them, turn right.

Move along the wall past the Gallows Camp to the first breach; through it, you’ll get onto the road towards the druid sanctuary. Follow the path to a fork, where you should turn right, then proceed a bit further and climb the stairs on the left. Caradoc will be waiting near the "Sanctuary of the Forgotten God."

How to Find Caradoc

Start a dialogue with the knight and choose the option: "Aren’t you going to help me get Excalibur?" After which, he will offer you a choice between an artifact or an answer to one of many questions. Below, we’ll describe all the options. Note that the option "And now — safe travels" ends the dialogue, after which Caradoc disappears.

Artifact

If you choose "I’ll take the artifact," Caradoc will disappear, and the following will appear in your inventory:

  • Whetstone;
  • Menhir Figurine;
  • Health Potion.

You can use the whetstone to improve weapons, and the figurine increases health by five points.

Answers

If you choose the option "I prefer a question," a list of six questions will appear:

Who are you?

  • I think what you really wanted to ask is who I was. Many centuries ago, I was a knight of the Round Table.
  • Now I am a hunter—hunting for what is left of our king, and at the same time trying to clean up the mess he made—with his whole life and his decisions.

How did you manage to survive?

  • This is the only question I cannot answer. And even if I could, you wouldn’t believe me. You will see it with your own eyes… very soon.

Why do you hate King Arthur so much?

  • The Arthur I swore loyalty to was a man, not a rotting corpse. A corpse that mindlessly destroys everything in its path, supposedly for the good of Avalon. He was noble, brave, and just.
  • At least, that’s what I thought when I was young and naive. Now I know the man I admired was a fabrication.
  • He played games with nature. He brought ruin to this land. And in the end, he lacked the courage to let go, but it had to be done.

Why did you help me escape?

  • So many questions you could ask, and that’s the one you’re interested in. Fine, he won’t be happy, but I gave you my word. The man who came up with this whole plan is the high druid named Orrin.
  • He is the last surviving student of Merlin himself. And you will definitely meet him when the time comes. Just remember, few know that he is still alive. He prefers it that way.

How can I get Excalibur?

  • That’s for you to figure out. I suspect you’ll have to find a way to wield that power and survive. If it were easy, someone else would have done it long ago.
  • But if it’s possible at all, I’d say the best chance is for someone with a shard of the king’s soul inside. The only advice I can give you is to seek out Brendan, captain of the Southern Horns.
  • In the old days, the Keepers performed a ritual that allowed them to withstand Excalibur’s power for longer. You should find out more about that.

Why do the Red Brothers torture people?

  • They are convinced it’s for the greater good. Stopping the Red Death is more important to them than anything, no matter the cost.
  • In the end, they became obsessed with taming Mari. History, you see, has a nasty habit—it repeats itself over and over, while the innocent suffer.

Whether you choose the answers or the artifact has no effect on the story. We recommend reading the answers in our article and taking the useful items.
