If you were hoping for a Resident Evil 5 remake anytime soon, you're in vain. And while Capcom has successfully reissued the first chapters of the survival horror saga as well-received remakes, it looks like Chapter 5 is a long way off.
According to the well-known insider Dusk Golem, the development of the Resident Evil 5 remake is not currently underway, but no one excludes that it may appear in the future. Apparently, Capcom is now betting on the Resident Evil Code Veronica remake- a game that many fans consider to be the real missing link in the saga, as well as a remake of Resident Evil Zero.
With anticipation mounting for Resident Evil 9and other projects already in the works (including new films), the RE5 remake could come to next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 6 and the successor to the Xbox X series.
It's no surprise that there are no plans for a Resident Evil 5 remake. Capcom knows it's a very different game: more action, less horror, and above all, co-op, so it requires a lot more work and risk than previous remakes.
Perhaps Capcom is waiting for the market to mature before making a polished co-op horror game. And maybe one day we'll be lucky enough to take on Majini with a friend online.
