The phenomenon of the cooperative horror Phasmophobia goes beyond the gaming world - Blumhouse studio, known for M3GAN and "Black Phone", announced the beginning of work on a film based on the popular game from Kinetic Games. Atomic Monster, the production company of James Wan, who gave viewers the universes of "The Conjuring" and "Annabelle", will also take part in the creation of the film.
The development of the film version has already begun. As Kinetic Games Director Daniel Knight (Dknighter) emphasized, this is a new and important stage in the history of the project:
"We are excited to announce that a Phasmophobia film adaptation is in development. We never imagined that this indie game launched five years ago would reach such heights."
Since its release in 2020, Phasmophobia has become a cult classic in the co-op horror genre, with over 23 million copies sold, a huge community of streamers, and a unique gameplay experience where up to four players explore abandoned houses, schools, and mental hospitals in an attempt to determine what type of ghost they're dealing with.
The cinematic adaptation promises to be as authentic as possible, as the project is backed by recognized masters of the genre. Fans can expect suspense, team dynamics, paranormal phenomena and, of course, the frightening unknown - everything that Phasmophobia has made millions of players around the world love.
