CD Projekt RED hid a secret message for fans in the anniversary trailer that was very difficult to spot.
Today, CD Projekt RED released a nostalgic trailer to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077. Titled "City of Legends," the video is a touching return to Night City. As befits a studio known for its Easter eggs, the video also includes a "secret" message for players, which is difficult to spot as it only appears for a split second. To see it, you'll need to quickly pause the game after the word "Cyberpunk" at 2:14.
The message reads:
Five years. They've flown by in a flash! But in that time, Night City has become more than we could have ever imagined. Over 30 million people have visited Night City, and 10 million have also played Phantom Liberty. This means so much to us.
You, our community, are incredible. Over the past five years, you've given us so many memories. You've hosted full-fledged Samurai concerts, created groups for meetups, celebrations, and discussions about all things Cyberpunk 2077... There were even tattoos and a marriage proposal at one of our booths (by the way, congratulations again!). All of this is a huge compliment for us, and it's incredibly inspiring.
CD PROJEKT RED's core value is always thinking about gamers. With your dedication and passion, it's easy. You've given us the strength to keep going, and that's what fuels us to keep going. The game's launch, Blade Runner, Phantom Liberty, version 2.0, successful releases on Nintendo Switch 2 and Apple Mac—over the past five years, you've helped us gain momentum. And we'll build on this momentum as we work on Cyberpunk 2 and everything else planned for the Cyberpunk universe.
And now, let me say thank you again. To everyone who played Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty, to everyone who downloaded our updates. To everyone who shared fan art, memories, and photos. To everyone who asked us where the metro was or gave us feedback after each update.
We've reached a great level together, and we can't imagine it any other way.
With love,
your friends at RED
