The creator of Fallout: New Vegas admitted that it is strange to see his characters in the series without his name being mentioned.

As Prime Video's Fallout series approaches its second season premiere , which takes place in the iconic New Vegas region, the original game's lead writer, John Gonzalez, has spoken out about his mixed feelings about the series.

In a conversation with PC Gamer, Gonzalez noted that he enjoys the series and the way the creators have played with the universe—especially the Brotherhood of Steel arc through the character Maximus. However, the inclusion of characters and world elements he personally created in the film adaptation leaves him with mixed feelings.

According to the screenwriter, he receives no credits or royalties for the use of the characters he created. Gonzalez understands that such conditions were part of his job from the start, but still admits that it's "very strange" to witness from the outside.

He compared the position of game writers to that of comic book writers in the mid-20th century: they created global icons but didn't own them. Yet, Gonzalez believes this only confirms the genius of the series' founders, Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain.

Fallout season 2 premieres on December 17 on Prime Video, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday until February 4.
