Resident Evil Requiem hasn't been released yet, but rumors about the next installment in the series are already starting to surface. According to insider Dusk Golem (aka AestheticGamer), who first reported Leon Kennedy's return, Capcom plans to release Resident Evil 10 no earlier than 2029, just three years from now.
The gap between RE9 and RE10 (though it probably won't be called that) is a bit shorter than usual (assuming RE10 isn't delayed either, it's currently scheduled for 2029, but in a worst-case scenario it could be delayed to 2030, 2031, depending on the whims of the game's developers), and RE9's DLC has had time to prepare.
The reason for the shorter gap between games this time around, according to Dusk Golem, is that Requiem was originally planned for release in 2025, with the DLC in 2026, to fill the gap between RE9 and the proposed remakes of Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0. However, due to internal delays, the release dates of Resident Evil Requiem and 10 have now been pushed significantly closer together.
RE9's development has been delayed several times. Apocalypse was planned for 2023, then Requiem for 2025, and then it was delayed until 2026.
There are rumors of a Resident Evil 5 remake thanks to the ESRB rating, which may be confusing for Dusk Golem leaks, but the rating isn't new and it's not specific to RE5.
RE5, Revelations 1, and Revelations 2 received strange new ESRB ratings last year, almost a year ago. So far, nothing has come of it.
It's possible this is related to the anniversary, as Resident Evil 7 also received a new rating around the same time, but it doesn't appear to be related to any upcoming remakes.
