"You'll have to play it to find out": Capcom is keeping the identity of the main villain in Resident Evil Requiem under wraps.

Capcom continues to keep its secrets under wraps and refuses to confirm who will be the main antagonist in Resident Evil Requiem. The new chapter of the cult horror franchise, scheduled for release in a few weeks, promises to reveal the mysteries of the events in Raccoon City, but the developer is keeping the identity of the main threat under wraps this time.

Victor Gideon is introduced as a scientist directly affiliated with the Umbrella Corporation and runs a patient center on Rhodes Hill, which serves as the base for his experiments. This is all connected to a secret operation called "Elpis," the details of which will be revealed during the game.

When asked directly about Gideon's role as the main villain, Koshi Nakanishi, the project's director, preferred to keep it a secret:

If you want to find out if he's the main villain, you'll have to play the game. I can't reveal that. However, I can say that we're very happy with his design. We all think he's a great character.

The director also explained the reasons for returning to the Raccoon City story in this new game:

We wanted to take a different approach than Resident Evil VII and Village. We were drawn to the idea of returning to the central story of the saga and engaging in introspection. This theme was very important to us, not only for exploring what's happening in the city now, but also for uncovering the truth about an incident that happened 30 years ago.

It's already known that the game will combine elements of survival horror and action with two playable protagonists: Leon Kennedy and a new character, Grace. The plot is designed to reveal previously unknown secrets related to the events of Resident Evil 2. and Resident Evil 3, linking important pieces of history.

Resident Evil Requiem will be released on February 27 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
